Where to Find Guest Blogging Opportunities on summer reading program near Yonkers - NY state

I wished to share with you a bit about why we developed our summertime reading program.

For me, it was since of my students.

Over the years of teaching in my personal learning center, parents would bring their kids to me that lagged in reading and spelling.

Sometimes they were simply a little bit behind, in some cases they were way behind, and sometimes they were at grade level and just wanted to advance quicker.

Often this was because the trainees had learning troubles like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was merely because the instructors did not teach all of the specific skills required to read.

There is a science-proven, detailed way that all kids can succeed with reading. Sadly, instructors themselves typically are not taught how to teach kids in this way.

The problem was that I was only able to see them for an hour at a time and only two times a week.

How could I get these trainees' skills up while not just providing a band-aid service?

Traditional tutors frequently just work on homework. This does not address the root cause of students' troubles and does not in fact get their abilities up.

I went to the research study and what I found out from my mentors in my early years of teaching.

I discovered that short activities often produce better results than long labored work.

I found that mentor in a methodical and structured method to target each area of reading and spelling worked.

I found that short everyday fluency practice helps all students check out much faster, more precisely, and inherently improves their comprehension skills.

I discovered that using graphic organizers helps students discover the main idea and information, series events, and arrange their ideas to enhance their comprehension. Trainees could finally understand and visualize what they read.

I discovered that many words in English follow 8 particular spelling patterns and when you discover the patterns, spelling becomes simpler and spelling finally makes sense.

I found that brain-body activities improve neuroplasticity and translate to making learning easier in all areas.

I found that executive function abilities were often not taught in school. These abilities are so critical, not simply with planning for school tasks however in life.

I found that teaching through our senses (hearing, seeing, and doing) improved their reading and spelling abilities much faster. It did not matter if they had learning difficulties or if they were just merely aiming to advance faster.

I create a program of these findings into brief 5-20 minute day-to-day activities that I could do with my trainees.

It wasn't long before my trainees and parents began seeing tremendous results. Trainees that lagged by 1-2 years typically got up to grade level in 2-4 months.

Educators began to ask what I was finishing with these kids. Parents wished to know what the magic sauce was.

I understood I had to make my program readily available to more trainees no matter where they live. I needed to make the program in a way that parents can do it with their kids on their schedule at home.

This is why I established the summertime reading program.
